Two sisters.

One brutal murder.

A quest for vengeance that will unleash Hell itself…

And an intoxicating romance.

Emilia and her twin sister Vittoria are streghe – witches who live secretly among humans, avoiding notice and persecution. One night, Vittoria misses dinner service at the family’s renowned Sicilian restaurant. Emilia soon finds the body of her beloved twin…desecrated beyond belief. Devastated, Emilia sets out to find her sister’s killer and to seek vengeance at any cost-even if it means using dark magic that’s been long forbidden.

Then Emilia meets Wrath, one of the Wicked-princes of Hell she has been warned against in tales since she was a child. Wrath claims to be on Emilia’s side, tasked by his master with solving the series of women’s murders on the island. But when it comes to the Wicked, nothing is as it seems…

Kerri Maniscalco has always been one of the authors I’ve heard about, and seen floating around the bookish community. I’ve always had Stalking Jack the Ripper on my TBR, but the time never felt right to give them a go! Upon my return to the world of blogging and bookstagram, I saw Kingdom of the Wicked quite literally everywhere, so one night I started it on my Kindle and FINISHED IT IN ONE SITTING. It was SO GOOD. Needless to say, I now have the B&N Exclusive Kingdom of the Cursed pre-ordered HAHA

Immediately, I was hooked. Kerri’s writing style is SO nice, and I was instantly obsessed with Emilia and her lovely little family, the book was filled with magic, mouth-watering descriptions of food, and a lot of mystery. The prologue really drew me in, I was so intrigued, and I honestly could not put it down until I finished it! We get to hear stories about the evil Wicked, and I was hooked.

The characters are so interesting too, Emilia is fuelled by her love for her sister and desire for vengeance, and I LOVE IT. She does make some stupid decisions every now and then, but she’s also 18 and I’m willing to overlook it lmao. BUT the very last decision she made, I was NOT a fan of. It is not what I expected in my perfect world, but here we are HAHA. Wrath is one of the Wicked, a prince from hell, and I LOVE HIM. He’s the perfect morally-grey, slightly-evil-yet-loveable villain of my DREAMS! Enemies to LOVERS PLEASE. I thoroughly enjoyed the interactions between the characters, and I thought it was so interesting how different each Wicked prince was.

I thought this was a fantastic start to the series, and I’m SUPER excited to see what happens in Kingdom of the Cursed!! I really do understand the hype around this book, and I would definitely recommend picking it up if you haven’t done so already!!

Kerri ManiscalcoKerri Maniscalco grew up in a semi-haunted house outside NYC where her fascination with gothic settings began. In her spare time she reads everything she can get her hands on, cooks all kinds of food with her family and friends, and drinks entirely too much tea while discussing life’s finer points with her cats.

She is the #1 NYT and USA Today bestselling author of the STALKING JACK THE RIPPER quartet. The final installment, CAPTURING THE DEVIL, will be released on 9/10/19. KINGDOM OF THE WICKED, the first in a new YA fantasy series, is slated for fall 2020.
